Creative Writing

Creative writing is essentially a medium to articulate feelings, thoughts and emotions rather than simply passing on information. Creative writing requires plenty of observation, imagination and ability to paint word-pictures out of anything under the sun. Creative writing is considered to be poetry, fiction or non-fiction which goes outside the bounds of normal academic, professional, journalistic and technical forms of literature.

All works of poetry, fiction, drama and non-journalistic writings feature an amalgamation of these attributes. Writing for screen and stage, play writing and screenwriting respectively have their own programs of study, but they fit under the creative writing category as well.

The most important thing is to learn where to use your imaginative power in order to make the work of art an enjoyable experience for the readers and yourself.

If creative writing is your passion, then you’d probably enjoy a career in which you could spend all day (or at least most of the day) pursuing that passion.

But creative writing is an artistic pursuit, and we all know that a career in the arts isn’t easy to come by. It takes hard work, drive, dedication, a whole lot of spirit, and often, a willingness to take big financial risks — as in not having much money while you’re waiting for your big break.

Here’s a list of 20 creative writing jobs that you can consider for your career path. I’m not making any promises. You have to go out and find them yourself, but these are jobs that exist. You just have to look for them and then land them.
